We now have a simple online appointment booking service which allows you to arrange your next eye examination. Available times at our practice are displayed and all you need to do is select your preferred time and date and we’ll confirm your appointment by text when your appointment is booked. Just click on the red button above. Easy-peasy.
Routine eye tests are important for health reasons as well as improving one’s vision. They may reveal hidden conditions such as glaucoma and diabetes, which can lead to serious loss of sight if not detected early enough to receive treatment.

Howard Street Practice Relocation
At the end of May 2023, the lease for our Howard Street premises expires and therefore we sadly will be closing this practice as the building is being redeveloped. We will be relocating to our Ballyhackamore branch and naturally will bring all our patient records there to continue caring for your eyes.
We are excited to get the opportunity to bring together all of our fantastic eyewear brands, in-depth expertise from our staff and latest eye testing technology under one roof in Ballyhackmore.
We will be open six days a week as usual with extended opening hours. This will mark the end of an era for Owens Opticians as we have been testing eyes in the centre of Belfast since 1949, originally in Donegall Square West and then in Howard Street from 2009.
Thank you for all your support over these many years in the city centre and we very much hope we’ll see you in Ballyhackamore.
